Portas da Cidade: A Piece of the Azores Finds a Home in Brampton

A symbol of home for generations of Azoreans has found a new place in Canada. Unveiled on September 12, 2026, the Portas da Cidade monument at Azores Park in Brampton celebrates the heritage, identity and enduring connections of the Portuguese community.

Inspired by the iconic arches of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, the monument tells a story that stretches from the Azores to Fall River and now Brampton, bringing a piece of the homeland closer to those who carry it in their hearts.
