Navigating the site

There are three main pages where information relating to the History of the Portuguese community in Canada is stored: Communities, Pioneers, and Multimedia. The Calendar page is still being populated and will soon be a great tool for you to discover if there is a cultural event being held in your area.

The profile of the various Luso-Canadian communities and organizations can be found under Communities. Here, the page breaks into various sections and subsections: provinces, cities, and associations. We are working on revamping this page with even more relevant information that will include greater details such as the profile of cultural, social, and sports groups within each association. We will also be profiling individuals and collective entities, particularly in regions where there isn’t a Portuguese association.

The Pioneers page is a work in progress. We have acquired relevant information on the profile of many of our pioneers in different regions across Canada. Soon, you will be able to learn even more about the roots of our presence in this great country that we now call home.

The Multimedia page has been populated with a few interesting documentaries, but we have much more to show you. Please check back regularly to see all the updates.

If you do not have the time to read, do not worry. You can also listen to every single article by using our Audio Version tool at the top of every article. For now, audio is only available in English, but we will soon also introduce it in the Portuguese language.

We continue to ask for your contribution. So far, we have been fortunate to have received a few interesting leads into a couple of organizations that are now defunct. We will soon reveal it all to you. If you have a story or an account related to a particular community or organization that you think would be of interest to the project, please contact us. We want to make this a community project where everyone has a voice.
